Rare THIRTY-NINTH ANNIVERSARY EDITION HOLLYWOOD REPORTER
You are viewing what I am sure is a very hard to find edition of the Hollywood Reporter. It's one of those yearly oversize softback books (over 200 pages here & measures about 12 1/4 x 9 1/4 inches). Within are many full page B&W photos of stars of the day, movie ads, pages with stars names, full page write-ups by stars like Rod Steiger. I collect these editions but mainly collect the 40s and 50s so I am going to sell this 1969 edition that I have had and enjoyed for some years now. I can tell you that I have taken years to find even the few that I own, but I have been looking for a particular one that an uncle gave me years ago and I have not found that issue yet. Maybe you are looking for this one from 1969? Some of the full-page movie star pictures include Rowman and Martin of Laugh-In, Rock Hudson, Jack Lemmon, Marlo Thomas, Herb Alpert, Donald O'Connor (wonderful pic of him), Glenn Campbell, David Janssen, Irene Ryan (Grandma on the Beverly Hillbillies looking very glamorous), Cissy of Family Affairs, Connie Stevens, Linda Harrison (pictured), Suzanne Zenor, Susana Miranda, Susan Clark, and Lola Falana ...and a few others. There are some smaller pictures of stars like Lucille Ball, Bob Hope, and there's a wonderful drawing of Dean Martin below which says, "....and I love everybody. Dino"
Some of movie star written articles within include one on Hollywood marriages by Angie Dickinson, "Without Writers" by Gig Young; "From Charmaine to Mrs. Robinson" by Mike Curb; "A Lost Chance" by Ricardo Montalban; "Give Me the Road" by Jose Ferrer; "C'mon In(TV) Waters Fine!" by Fred MacMurray; "Put the Kids to Work" by Pat Boone; "The Jet of the Jet Set" by Danny Kaye; "Is Tibet Far Enough" by Gower Champion; "Charly's Oscar" by Cliff Robertson, and many more.
There are lots of ads for movies of the day and there's a 2-page ad for PAINT YOUR WAGON. I just cannot say how special and unusual these anniversary editions are. The paper is heavy and glossy and beautiful
CONDITION: The interior pages are excellent. The covers show some handling but less than one would expect for a vintage softback movie book like this which is a real collectible in any condition, but especially in the very good condition this one remains in. The spine has about a one inch chip out of the bottom part of spine and there's a pulling away of about 2 inhes of the front cover from the spine, but all the pages within are sturdy and tightly bound .
